Tooth decay is caused by oral bacteria eating away at the outer protective layer that is the enamel of the tooth. You can prevent this wear out of teeth in young children by adopting the following habits.

Clean baby’s gums with a soft cloth to remove plaque.

Clean the tooth with a tiny and soft toothbrush.

Use a rice-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste.

Use a pea-sized amount of toothpaste.

Remove the milk bottle from the baby’s mouth while he is sleeping.

Avoid giving juices to your child. American Academy of Pediatrics advises no more than 1/2 to 3/4 cup of fruit juice daily. Avoid sticky food, chocolates, and candies.

Give your child nutritious food.. e.g. offer meals that include whole grains, vegetables, and fruits. Yogurt, fresh cheese, and milk are good for a child’s teeth.
